Nico Paladini

Nico Paladini was born in 1949 in Empoli (Fi). Endowed with an energy and vitality that he transfers from his unstoppable activities as an explorer, climber, and spelunker to that of a painter. In the late 1960s, he graduated from the Istituto d'Arte in Siena. He began his exhibition activity in the early 1970s, and in the first half of the 1980s, he also started working as a graphic designer and fashion photographer. In 1987, he held a solo exhibition at the Galleria La Barcaccia in Rome. In 1988, he participated in a group show at the Galleria Il Prato dei Miracoli in Pisa, and in 1990, he took part in the Premio Italia in Bologna and Tione (Tn). Other solo exhibitions followed, such as those at the Galleria La Gradiva in Montecatini Terme (Pt), 'La donna e l'orchidea' (1991) on the Isle of La Reunion (France), and 'Passaparola' (1992) in Barberino del Mugello (Fi).


In 1993, the Metropolismo movement was presented in a major exhibition at the Spazio Flaminio in Rome, curated by Omar Calabrese, Alberto Abruzzese, Renato Minore, and Valerio Dehò. Subsequent events of the movement took place, including exhibitions at the Galleria Salamandra in Syracuse, the Instituto di Cultura in Madrid presented by Achille Bonito Oliva in 1995, and at the Young Museum in Revere (Mn) and Brussels (Belgium). There were further solo and Metropolismo group exhibitions in Portugal, Spain, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Italy, culminating in an exhibition at the Scuderie di Palazzo Ruspoli in Rome (2012). Paladini exhibited in the itinerant show '50 pittori toscani per 50 cantanti toscani' in 12 different exhibition spaces in Tuscany. He was also a key figure in the exhibition 'Sulla strada di Venere' with displays at Palazzo Malaspina in San Donato in Poggio (Fi) and at the Terme Tettuccio in Montecatini Terme (Pt). Following this were 'Vuoti a perdere' in the Sala del Basolato in Fiesole (Fi) and 'As time goes by' at the Casa Rossa in Pontassieve (Fi). In 2015, 'Metropolismo e Dintorni' was held at the Fornace Pasquinucci in Capraia Fiorentina (Fi). In 2018, he participated in the group exhibition 'Pinocchio al Pinocchio' at the Casa Culturale in San Miniato Basso (Pi), and then had the solo exhibition 'Minoranze silenziose' at the Casa Museo Arcieri Bitonti in San Mauro Forte (Mt). Nico Paladini lives and works in Vinci (Fi).
